Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Rittal RiTherm

RiTherm is the free software tool for needs-based, reliable, and energy-efficient enclosure climate control planning that comes with standard-compliant documentation and proof of the related carbon footprint. RiTherm makes it easy to select suitable cooling and air conditioning devices.

Everybody can use RiTherm for free. Registered users have access to an expanded range of functions, e.g. the creation and management of complete projects.

RiTherm is a browser-based application, and you can therefore use the current version of your Internet browser to access it.

RiTherm is a cloud-based application and therefore no additional installations are needed.

It is possible to save your calculation as a project. You just have to register/log into the cloud platform first.

As a registered user, you have the option to create a project. Project-specific data such as project number, project managers or other information can be saved there.

Yes. You can change the measurement system at the start of the software. As a registered user, you can select and save the measurement system under “Settings.”

Yes, this is also possible. For further configuration, the exact enclosure dimensions and the material are required

Yes, planning the climate control of up to twelve enclosures in a series is possible.

Yes, you can plan the climate control of up to ten sets simultaneously.

When creating the enclosure system, we look at our enclosure from above (bird’s eye view).

You can see three different plus buttons at the currently selected enclosure. By clicking one of the + buttons, you can add an adjacent object, e.g., a wall. To remove the object, you just need to click on it.

Add a wall to the back of the enclosure and then select either “None” or “Roof Covered” from the options of additional covering type (e.g., for: enclosure mounted hanging under the ceiling).

The option “Calculate by device list” can be used. Here you have the possibility to select components from various manufacturers and have the total power dissipation calculated.

At the “Calculation” step you can change both the system voltage and the grid frequency

You can filter your results by clicking on the funnel icon to the right of the cooling device. This is where you can filter your devices by options such as cooling output, protection category or other criteria.

You can use the “Interactive characteristics” option (column diagram icon) to determine the actual cooling capacity of the device by entering the required internal temperature and maximum external temperature.

You can use the “Preview” option (eye icon) to display the characteristics of the cooling solution. The “Learn more” link will take you to the product page of the cooling unit.

The energy efficiency ratio (EER) is an important measure of the energy efficiency of climate control systems in cooling operation. It is the ratio between the cooling energy generated and the electrical energy consumed during full load operation.

As a result of your calculation, you can download a planning summary, a bill of material and the IEC61439 documentation. You can download those documents in the form of PDF, DOCX, XML or HTML files.
